The Security and Resilience Outlook highlights the sector’s three core priorities of protecting critical national infrastructure; strengthening homeland security and policing; and bolstering the UK’s economic security.
The publication further reveals that in total, nearly 150,000 people are employed in the security and resilience sector, representing a 70% increase on 2015. The average salary for someone employed in the security sector has increased 42% in the last ten years to reach £49,000 – 25% higher than the average UK earner.
Nathan Mathiot, ADS Director for Policy and Public Affairs said: “As the global security environment becomes increasingly fragile – from both physical and digital threats – the UK’s ability to protect its people and safeguard its interests relies on the strength of its security and resilience sector. Operating as the silent guardian of our national security, the sector provides the foundational capabilities that keep our country secure, our streets safe and our supply chains resilient.
“With more than 1,100 members active across the security and resilience sector, we look forward to working closely with industry, government and academic partners to ensure that our full potential, and our responsibilities to society, are realised together.”
